SMPTE/SBE Holiday Party

Guest Speaker: You!

November 28, 2018

Our annual holiday bash was another great success!  It was organized by SMPTE Washington DC Section, along with assistance from SBE Chapter 37, the AES DC Section, and the many generous sponsors listed below.  We enjoyed an evening of great food and drink but what made the event truly special was the comradery and engaging conversation with our industry colleagues.

This year's gala was held at Corduroy, 1122 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001 (just across 9th Street from the DC Convention Center), on the first day of the Governemt Video Expo.  Dinner was provided by our genereous event sponsors, which we wish to thank:

Organizers of Holiday Party 2018:

SMPTE:

SMPTE, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, a professional membership association, is the worldwide leader in developing and providing motion-imaging standards and education for the communications, technology, media, and entertainment industries. An internationally recognized and accredited organization, SMPTE advances moving-imagery education and engineering across the broadband, broadcast, cinema, and IT disciplines. Since its founding in 1916, SMPTE has published the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal and developed more than 650 standards, recommended practices, and engineering guidelines. More than 6,000 members — motion-imaging executives, engineers, creative and technology professionals, researchers, scientists, educators, and students— who meet in Sections throughout the world, sustain the Society. Information on joining SMPTE is available at http://www.smpte.org/join.

The Washington DC Section of SMPTE hosts monthly section meetings featuring technology presentations and facility tours, an annual holiday party and our annual two-day technology conference. More information about our local section and upcoming events can be found here: https://www.smpte.org/sections/washington-dc
